Storyn is a mobile app that delivers immersive 8D audio experiences through stories, allowing users to feel fully immersed in the narrative. With dynamic audio effects and a subscription model, it provides an innovative way to experience storytelling.
Storyn is an app for both Android and Apple devices, designed to offer users immersive audio experiences in the form of 8D stories. By combining narration with dynamic audio effects, users are transported into the story—hearing everything from galloping horses to explosions, all around them.
The app includes a fully integrated admin panel, providing the client with complete control over the platform. From managing homepage to analyzing detailed user engagement and retention metrics, the admin panel empowers the client to adapt and optimize the app experience.

From Ideation to Launch
The idea for Storyn was proposed by one of our partners, aiming to create a unique mobile app for audio storytelling.
The app would need to combine compelling audio narratives with innovative 8D audio effects to immerse users.
A full app briefing was created, outlining the technical requirements, timeline, and goals for the project.
We began by exploring several design directions, starting with a darker “scary stories” aesthetic. This helped us understand the potential visual tone of the app.
As we moved forward, we expanded the branding concept to make it more versatile, focusing on creating a warm, inviting experience that could resonate with all types of stories and audiences.
Early design work included creating initial screens and visual concepts, which served as a foundation for discussions and feedback.

Weekly meetings with the client became a key part of the process, allowing us to collaborate closely, refine ideas, and adjust the designs based on feedback and evolving goals.
Through this iterative approach, we gradually developed a cohesive aesthetic, centered on the idea of storytelling around a campfire—a theme that encapsulated warmth, community, and variety.
The app’s logo, symbolizing this campfire concept, was a result of this iterative process, tying the branding together.


The final designs brought this vision to life, balancing intuitive user flows with a visually appealing and functional interface that embodied the app’s core values.
The app was built using Expo, allowing a single codebase to efficiently support both Android and iOS platforms.
The backend was developed using NestJS, providing a robust, scalable, and efficient server-side framework.
A fully integrated admin panel was developed, allowing the client to manage all content, including stories, series, narrators, and more. It even provides tools to adjust things like the homepage layout, and comes with full metrics on app usage.


The admin panel even includes a complete notification system, enabling admins to send targeted notifications based on a user’s listening history or preferences, enhancing engagement and personalization.
Audio hosting was powered by Mux, with detailed analytics captured through Mux Data, enabling precise tracking of user listening habits and story performance.


Features like user login via SSO (Google, Apple, or Magic Links), a listening history, the ability to pick up where users left off, and more made the app intuitive and user-friendly.

We launched TikTok campaigns that created buzz and generated initial interest from users.
Within the first few days of launch, the app gained several hundred subscribers and quickly rose to #1 in the Swedish App Store.
The app’s growth continued post-launch, driven by continuous updates and fresh content, maintaining user interest and increasing subscriptions.
Monthly updates continue to be released, which improve and add features, and enhance the overall user experience.
